The Tim Hortons Lesson
As I pulled up to the drive-thru, I already knew this location had a track record of mixing up my orders.
So when the voice crackled through the speaker — “What can I get for you?” — I paused for a second and said,
“Hey, how are you doing today?”
What happened next surprised me. Her tone instantly changed. She sounded lighter. Happier.
When I reached the window, she greeted me with a big, genuine smile and handed over my order like she truly meant it.
That moment hit me.
We never really know what someone else is going through — not the person serving coffee, not our colleagues, sometimes not even our family. Everyone’s carrying something unseen.
And sometimes, all it takes to make their day a little better is a small act of kindness.
A smile. A moment of genuine respect.
So next time someone cuts you off, gets your order wrong, or moves a little slower than you’d like…
pause.
Breathe.
Be kind.
You might just change their day — and your own.
👉 One small act of kindness can echo louder than you think.
