Have you ever noticed how, sometimes, feeling bad almost feels… good? I’m not talking about the obvious kind of good, like joy or contentment. No, I’m talking about that strange comfort we find in our own sorrow or frustration. There was a time not too long ago when I found myself lying on the couch, sinking into a feeling of self-pity. I thought about everything that had gone wrong in my life lately—work stress, personal setbacks, and a long list of things I hadn’t achieved. I started to wonder: Why was I clinging to these feelings?
